Admission Requirements
To assist you in the admission process, the following is an outline of exactly what is required for admission to ZCU. To begin, read the following criteria which all applicants must meet for entrance into ZCU:
- Graduated from high school (home school, Christian, or public) or able to present a Certificate of Eligibility demonstrating successful completion of the General Education Development (GED) test. International students must provide proof of equivalent academic achievement.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
- Provided transcripts from High School attended as well as all schools where college credit was earned.
- Provided a recommendation from a member of the clergy.
- Submitted an Admission Application, complete in its entirety, along with the admission fee.
Bachelor of Theology Degree Program: In addition to the above five (5) requirements, individuals must have completed 30 General Education Credits from an acceptable school. An official transcript must be provided to the ZCU Admissions Department.
Bachelor of Arts in Theology Degree Program: In addition to the above five (5) requirements, individuals must have completed 60 General Education credits from an acceptable school. An official transcript must be provided to the ZCU Admissions Department.
Applicants who do not have a high school diploma or GED diploma and are at least 21 years of age may be considered for acceptance under special status. If accepted, those of special status will be on academic probation and must maintain a 2.0 grade level on a 4.0 scale during the first year of study to be removed from academic probation.
Admission Process
To apply for admission, applicants must complete the following steps:
- Complete the Application for Admission included with the catalog. Send all admission forms with a recent photo and a nonrefundable admission fee. Applicants may also apply online at: www.zion.edu/apply.
- Complete the top portion of the Clergy Recommendation Form and give to
a member of the clergy who knows you well to complete and return to Zion Christian University.
- Request a copy of a high school transcript and any other postsecondary transcripts to be forwarded to the Admissions Office. For admission into any program, OFFICIAL transcripts are required from high school and all previous colleges and/or universities attended regardless of how many courses were taken or the nature of the work. For applicants who have home schooled and do not have a transcript, please contact the admissions department to obtain a Home School Credit Evaluation or it may be obtained online.
For applicants who have home schooled and do not have a transcript, please see the Home Schooled Students section to obtain a form to evaluate the credits completed. In addition to this form a parental letter describing the educational background and skills of the applicant is also required.
It is the responsibility of the applicants to follow up on the completion of their file for admissions. After the Admission Office reviews all admissions materials, applicants will receive a letter stating their admission status.
